Nvidia preps rival for AMD's Radeon HD 3830Nvidia will next month roll out the GeForce 9600 GSO, it has been claimed by graphics card maker moles. The 'G92'-based GSO is set to go up against AMD's ATI Radeon HD 3830, an 'RV670'-based part which is believed to be due for launch later this month. Related stories
So far, no detailed 9600 GSO specs have emerged, but the 3830 is said to contain 320 unified shaders and connect to up to 256MB of graphics memory over a 128-bit bus, so the Nvidia part's probably not radically different. The 3830 is expected to be pitched as a cheaper alternative to the 9600 GT, so we'd suggest the 9600 GSO will hook up to 256-512MB of memory. We've heard it uses a 192-bit bus - slap bang between the 3830's 128-bit bus and the 9600 GT's 256-bit bus. Related Reviews
