Samsung's F480 hitting Europe next month22nd May 2008 10:40 GMT
Seoul-based electronics giant Samsung has finally confirmed that the credit-card sized F480 handset will land in Europe this coming June. ![]() Samsung's F480 has a 2.8in touchscreen and enables 7.2Mb/s HSDPA downloads The manufacturer unveiled the 2.8in touchscreen phone with leather backing and a chrome trim at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last February – but we’ve heard very little about the iPhone contender since. On the tech spec front, everything is the same as we reported back in February. The phone has an impressive five-megapixel camera and is strong on the multimedia front, supporting a host of audio formats, including MP3 and WMA. It also enables video editing – which could make it a contender to Motorola’s recently launched Z10. ![]() A leather backing gives the F480 a touch of class Micro SD cards of up to 8GB can be slotted into the phone and data can be moved onto other devices over Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0. The phone supports tri-band GSM/GPRS/Edge connections and enables super-speedy HSDPA downloads of up to 7.2Mb/s. Its three-hour talk time is about average, although the 250 hours of standby life should mean you won’t have to recharge for a while – provided you don’t use the phone very much, of course. Geesung Choi, president of Samsung’s telecommunication business, said the F480 is “just the first in a series of touchscreen mobiles we are launching this year”. So, if the F480 doesn’t float your hi-tech boat for some reason, then stay tuned for more models before December. Although Samsung’s confirmed that the F480 will ship to major European markets from next month, it hasn’t provided a UK specific date or price yet. 2 comments posted — Comment period finished Orange UKPosted: 14:43 22nd May 2008 RE: Orange UKPosted: 00:45 31st May 2008 |
