Help! Windows XP to Vista migration mishap
Q&A

I've just bought a Compaq laptop running Vista and am (failing) to migrate from my old Dell Inspiron 2600 laptop running XP Home! I bought a Techguys USB 2.0 Easy Transfer Cable for Windows Vista to make the task simple.
I succesfully (I think) installed the Easy Transfer Driver on the Dell laptop and connected the Transfer Cable between the two machines. The Compaq seems to recognise that I plugged in a Transfer Cable but won't display the transfer interface screen that sets off the process.
I'm expectingto see a message "A connection to the other computer has been detected", but the system just stops at this point.
The only thing I can think of is that my laptop is old [bought 2002] and has I presume only a USB 1.1 port. For some reason the Transfer cable will not function correctly with 1.1 at the source USB port and 2.0 at the target.
Has anybody else come across this? What can I do?
