Visiting cities with a copy of Lonely Planet is like carrying a big sign saying 'tourist'. So Nokia’s teamed up with the travel guide publisher to create more discreet handset-based editions.

Global travellers can now download Lonely Planet content from Nokia’s website for around €8 ($10/£5) a city. Lonely Planet downloads are available for over 100 destinations so far.

Although Nokia already provides its own mapping service, the handset giant claims that Lonely Planet's guides will help add to the information provided on its maps. For example, it’s claimed users will be able to find “great places to eat, shop and sleep,” in addition to descriptions of popular sights and nightlife in each location.

So, instead of being mugged because you look like a tourist, you could just be mugged for your mobile.
