Games developer Bungie has confirmed some good news: that there’s a new Halo 3 in the works. The bad news is how long’s left to go before it’ll be ready.

Set to be called Halo 3: Recon, the title will be released as a standalone tite, with the developer having branded it a “new chapter in the Halo saga” that’ll let gamers “experience events leading up to the epic story told in Halo 3”.

Gamers will play a special forces Orbital Drop Shock Trooper and have been promised hours of new campaign excursions and multiplayer online action.

But all good things come to those who wait, and wait you shall, because Halo 3: Recon isn’t expected to hit the Xbox 360 until autumn next year.
