Supplier sounds fake netbook warning
HIS not making mini-laptops
5th December 2008 15:40 GMT
Graphics card maker HIS has warned punters off of netbooks bearing its brand - it didn't make them.
The alert follows the appearance of an HIS-labelled mini-laptop in India. Pictures of the product look rather like the MSI Wind, but countless bloggers rushed to report HIS' entry into the netbook market.

Not an HSI netbook
But, according to HIS marketing chief Peter Yeung, "HIS has no plan for netbook products".
He branded the HIS netbooks seen in the wild as illegal counterfeits and threatened "swift legal action" if the alleged fraudsters are found.
It's not clear how many ersatz HIS laptops have actually made it onto the market.
