A Micro SD card with an integrated Near-Field Communication (NFC) capability for wireless payments has been unveiled.
Designed by monetary tech firm Giesecke & Devrient, the Mobile Security Card has a “cryptography controller with an NFC-compatible interface” integrated alongside its 2GB Flash capacity.

The Mobile Security Card features integrated NFC capability
The card doesn’t come with, say, Pret A Manger’s wireless payment capability pre-loaded. But G&D said that its Micro SD is nonetheless a platform for implementing such features, whether that be to provide London Underground Oyster-style wireless entry into your workplace or simply as a cash alternative.
When slipped into a mobile phone, for example, the card will establish a secure communication link as soon as it comes within a few centimetres of a reader.
An availability date or price for the Mobile Security Card Micro SD hasn’t been given yet.
