Comments on: Phones to be powered by speech?

Old story

Paris Hilton

This was argued to death on Slashdot over a week ago.

But the main thing is that there are various rules of physics which mean this simply isn't possible. Even if the noise energy from the mouth could be tapped with 100% efficiency (LMAO) then the encoding and transmission energy required would be too much.

"Phone batteries to be supplimented by power from speech" might be a better headline.

Paris, because she gives out a lot of energy through her mouth.

HELLO

In order to keep your phone charged, you have to yak all the time. Yeesh, people talk too much as it is.

Maybe it would work from ambient sound too. I only talk on my mobile about 3 to 5 minutes a month, at most.

If this works well the device could be powered...

by ambient vibrations from everywhere. Just connect the device to a battery and it would be continuously charged.

Paris, because, man, she really vibrates it...
