Sony tunes in to stereo TV stands

Sony has expanded its range of stereo-cum-telly stands with the launch of a set for big screen TVs.

Sony's G950 stereo TV stand: pumps out 470W

The RHT-G550 was unveiled back in August, designed for 32-40in TVs. The latest model – the RHT-G950 – can accommodate screens of between 40in and 46in.

The G950 incorporates a 5.1-channel speaker system capable of, Sony claimed, “great power” - a total output of 470W, to be exact. The firm promised that you’ll be enveloped in sound.

Several audio settings come pre-installed, including Movie, Sport, News, Rock, Jazz and Classic. The built-in FM/AM tuner lets you pick-up radio stations too.

Should you already be part of the Sony clan, then one of the G950’s three HDMI ports can be used for connecting in your PlayStation 3.

The G950’s rear corners have been cut away to ensure the unit fits closer into the corner of your living room, while its body’s finished off with a gloss black shine and glass top. A cable management system helps keep cables at bay.

Sony’s RHT-G950 will be available in May. A price hasn't been unveiled yet. ®
