Samsung boxes up Centrino 2 notebook pair
One for families, one for road warriors

Samsung is prepping the launch of two Centrino 2 notebooks. They are fairly similar, apart from screen size, but aimed at two decidedly different markets.

Samsung's Q320: look ma, no frame!
The 13.4in Q320 is “perfect for mobile enthusiasts”, while the 15.6in R522 is a “family-friendly” notebook with an aluminium-style palm rest and blue backlit touchpad.
There are few differences between the machines once you delve under their respective hoods. Both are based on unspecified Intel Core 2 Duo processors and are fitted with six-cell batteries.
Just 30 minutes of life separates the battery lives, with the R522 having the longer-lasting, five-hour power pack. Both also have a “SuperSilent Mode” to minimise fan noise.

The R522 has four USB and one combo USB/eSata port
Samsung hasn’t said what the graphics set-up for the R552 is. The Q320 incorporates an Nvidia GeForce G105M GPU for “state-of-the-art” 3D gaming and HD movies.
The R522 has four USB ports and a combo USB/eSata connection, but the Q320 only appears to have the latter and a single USB port.
Samsung’s R522 and Q320 notebooks are available next month. No prices yet. ®
