A Taiwan-based PC manufacturer’s entered into talks with Nokia to potentially construct the Finnish mobile phone giant’s first notebook, it’s been reported.
According to Chinese-language newspaper the Economic Daily News (EDN), by way of DigiTimes, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) is currently in talks with Nokia over notebook orders.
News that Nokia is contemplating branching out into the notebook business is nothing new. The firm’s Chief Executive - Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo – said back in February that it’s “looking very actively... at this opportunity” to make Nokia-branded laptops.
However, EDN added that Nokia’s notebook “talks” could be settled later during the ongoing quarter.
Whether Nokia will end up signing a production deal with ECS though, remains to be seen. ®
