MotionPlus not backwards compatible, Nintendo confirms
No extra motion sensitivity for Wii Fit, et al

Gamers hoping to use the upcoming MotionPlus peripheral with some of their existing Wii titles are in for a disappointment, because Nintendo’s confirmed that the add-on won’t be backwards compatible.
In an announcement the firm disappointing said that it currently has “no plans to make it [MotionPlus] compatible with existing non-Wii MotionPlus enabled titles”.
The peripheral will arrive in the Europe on 12 June, while the first Nintendo-developed title designed to showcase MotionPlus’ abilities - Wii Sports Resort - will arrive on 24 July.
Several other MotionPlus titles have also been developed by third parties, although firm launch dates haven’t yet been decided. These titles include Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, Virtua Tennis 2009 and Grand Slam Tennis. ®
