Gaming peripherals look set to become much more realistic, following the revelation that skateboarding superstar Tony Hawk’s latest title will use a hi-tech skateboard add-on.

Activision – the firm behind his new Tony Hawk Ride videogame – has released a promotion video in which gamers are teased with images of a black skateboard that’s had its wheels lopped off.

Nothing’s been revealed about the board’s features, but various shots clearly show buttons down one side. Could these be used for controlling the on-screen skating action?

That’s all we know about the board for now, but it’s been confirmed that the game will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii.

Given that “E3 6.2.2009” appears at the end of the video, it’s a pretty safe assumption that the official unveiling will be made at the E3 videogames show next month in Los Angles. ®
