Storage firm A-Data has launched an external hard drive which the firm claimed is the world’s slimmest and lightest 2.5in portable storage unit... with an aluminium case.

A-Data's NH92: 12mm thick

The NH92 is a mere 12mm thick and weighs in at 152g – the lightest weight currently available for an aluminium-encased portable hard drive, A-Data claimed.

Users of designer thin'n'light laptops books will be sold on the drive’s looks, A-Data added, because it comes in a choice of three fashionable colours: “light silver”, “cherry pink” and “ocean blue”. Each model comes with a leather carry pouch.

The drive has also been fitted with a “special shock-resistance design”, A-Data claimed.

A USB 2.0 port will let you hook the drive into your PC and available storage capacities range from 250GB to 500GB.

A price or launch date for the NH92 hasn’t been announced. ®
