Dell has unwrapped its latest Alienware gaming laptop, which it’s punting as the world’s universe’s most powerful 15in gaming laptop.

The Alienware M15x is super powerful, when you add all the extras
The M15x is apparently the first Alienware laptop to provide mobile enthusiasts and “hardcore gamers on the go” with Intel’s Core i7 1.6GHz processor as standard, but you can opt to upgrade to the chip’s 2.0GHz version.
Inside laptop you’ll find a 512MB Nvidia GeForce GTX 240M GPU and 3GB of DDR3 memory, but – again – if you really want to pull out all the stops then you can opt to upgrade to a 1GB Nvidia GPU and 8GB DDR3 memory.
The 15.6in screen runs at a 1600 x 900 resolution as standard – a 1080p upgrade is available. Dell throws in a 250GB HDD, although you can opt for a 500GB HDD or 256GB SSD.
A slot-load DVD burner is the standard optical drive configuration, so you may want to consider going all out with the Blu-ray burner option instead.
Other standard options include a six-cell battery, Bluetooth 2.1 support and 802.11 a, g, and n Wi-Fi.
Dell’s Alienware M15x laptop is available online now in North America, with prices starting at $1499 (£933/€1013). The machine hasn’t appeared on the Alienware’s UK website, yet. ®
